Armatus hardiness?

I want to finally go ahead and get an armatus for a total of around $160. But I'm VERY nervous. I'm not sure if I could put that kind of money in and lose a fish before I even watch it grow much. How easily do they die?

My set up would be a 75 gallon grow out with two powerful powerheads creating a strong current. Temp around 85 F. Sand bottom. Sound good?

Any tips or advice?

I think the temp is a bit high, I'm thinking temp from 75-82F is good. I have a red tail in 79.4F

Already read that, just looking for more. And that thread say 80-88 F for armatus

Should be easy. I got an scrob, sabertusk and a red tail. Temp is 82, all seem healthy n out of my collection, the scrobs die easy. Armatus should be easy. Cant wait to get 1

They are pretty hardy,more so than their closest relatives.and they grow rather quickly.I got mine as a mere two incher and it was about six inches in a few months.Keep them well fed and their water clean and there should be no problems....Where are you getting yours from?

Just make sure the water is very clean. They're sensitive to water quality. And make sure temps do not fluctuate. They get Ick easily. I kept mine at around 82-85.

i heard that they get ick VERY easy... keep your nitrites down
