Armatus Identification thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They had is posted for $149 on the tank as an armatus, they said 139 on the phone, when I got there I looked again after reading this thread, and told buddy its most likely a scomb, showed him this link and he gave it to me for $90, its about 7 inches give or take and has eaten non living food a few time since they got it in, I have no idea what a scomb should go for? or an armatus for that matter? I have not seen one around in many years. but thank you all for the fast responces.

Price isnt too bad, good thing you got that discount though, the wallet always appreciates that lol. My buddy Drew had some scombs fs in VM and he was asking $60 for roughly 6".

ah that sounds good then, I can live with that, I am on the look out for an armatus now, I hope one day I find one, I also hope this guy don't die for some unexplained reason around the one year mark like I keep reading. oh well, at least Im more educated in payara now. and my water is always nice and clean so I hope it don't get sick on me. ill find an armatus one day for sure.

Check out exotic aquaria in BC! They had a ton of ARMATUS in the beginning of the year for 100 bux!!!

+1? Head shape looks tat I believe, but adipose vs caudal color throws me off

I agree, but it also looks pretty thin and the weird shaped head could be becuz of that. The tail reminds me of an armatus but could it possibly be one of those rare yellow tail tats?

Edit: it definitely isn't a scomb. Did you get it for scomb price?
