Wasn't sure what these were till I googled it, and realised it's a type of carp. I recently read that fishes in the carp family (Cyprinidae) contain Thiaminase. http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Thiaminase
Which is why I've stopped getting him Silver Sharks as well. So you might wanna reduce the number of these you feed him.

Despite this, plenty of Asian keepers feed goldfish to their fish, with no real ill effects.

I don't think there really is any risk, is what I'm trying to say.
I had one grow 2-3 inches in only 2 weeks, fed only on goldfish.
 
I wouldn't think that feeding them those fish exclusively would be a good idea?

My fish wouldn't avoid them, he'd still eat them (Mine LOVEs those silver sharks). From what I've read, Thiaminase builds up over time and its effects take a while to come on. But it also doesn't stay in the body long.
(Please correct me if I'm wrong).

So I guess it is ok to feed them some fish with it, but the key is variety.
For my case, Silver Sharks were his exclusive feeders for a period of time. So now, I'm avoiding all those fish just the "clear" his system, before I introduce them again - this time less and with a variety of other fish too.
