i buy about 40 large feeders (3" size) each time so i only need to go once a week.

I think i will try to starve it starting next week after my last batch of feeders are gone and then try the thread method...
question, how do you keep the thread by getting into its mouth when they go for it? wouldn't trying to pull the thread out also pull out the food? care to share???
 
You have to be pretty careful. When you rip the shrimp to pieces you have to tie it onto a hanging piece that will break away pretty easy. Or you can tie it on the end loosley and hope it comes off when they strike. I tied it too tight a couple times and my pickerel just struck and let go...No harm done. But he didn't strike again that day. If they strike and it doesn't come off just leave em be and try again the next day. Oh and it takes some thinking when you do it not to jerk when you feel a tug. Remember you are trying to get the fish to eat...not fishing lol. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

P.S. In the event that the fish would swallow the thread it would not be a big deal. It will just pass it naturally. I have seen a fish eat a rubberband once and have a side of it sticking out of each end with no ill effects.

oh...ok. i buy 600 small ones and throw them into the pond.....they dissapear in 48 hrs.
