Armatus payara tankmates

Hey to all, Ive been looking aroung for info and it seems like the Armatus does not swim to much. So my question is what is the smallest tank for 1? I am going to try to pick one up this weekend. He will be buncking with a VATF about 6" or so. I just hope world war III does not break out in my tank :). I have a 5x2x2 (150) how long will the Armatus last in the tank alone, before he has to be in a bigger tank or have to get rid of?
 
The vast majority of people who have had armatus (there arent many here in the states) have had little success mixing them with other fish, especially silver mid water dwellers like ATF.

From what I have seen armatus grow FAST! Once they hit 10-12", which they do rapidly, they slow down a bit. Your 5x2x2 should last 12-18 months would be my guess.

Does anyone know what size tank that the monster armatus Neo had a vid of from Taiwan was in?

I'de say your tank would be good for a year. I wouldn't be shoehorning an 18 in Armatus in a 24 inch tank. Mines in a 180 now and will be moved by next summer....it's 6 in. now. The one I have seems pretty active. And will always be housed with other fish......
 
careful w the atf, they are known to not get along. mine shanked an atf after they were housed toghother for a month.
