no clue.. i've got a old ass phone that can barely do anything else but make calls and play tetris demos lol

Lol, weeeeeellll I can just say he was about 2.5", more gold than silver, adipose was def orange, the other two were just shaped completely different, this guy swam completely horizontal, the other two always head down at an angle, plus they have more of an upturned head.the pics on aquascape of their 4"armatus were identical! Even down to the black flecks on the face (which I can only assume are black spot parasites)IDENTICAL

Either way it sucks.i lost a fish, but to lose an armatus that I only paid $25 for? Thats awful.

hmm, when you say more gold than silver, that might have been a red tail payara (scientific ID hydrolycus tatauaia). but yea, regardless.. sucks but life goes on lol if it makes you feel better, I've went thru about 3 payaras :/

to this day i refuse to count how much those fish had cost + their shipping :)

oh btw, those black flecks are normal I believe. just something that comes up during their maturation (to my best knowledge). I created a thread a while ago about this but hadnt got anything. meanwhile, the payara ate fine, behaved 100% normal so those black circular spots on the face, I decided was just part of their growing process

I always thought the black flecks were black spot parasite, i've seen other fish with them and in an aquarium it goes away on it's own because the parasite needs a water bird as an intermediate host, with out the bird it can't complete it's life cycle and just dies off, fish gets black spot,(larvae) bird eats fish, parasite pupates in the birds gut lays eggs, defecates in water eggs hatch, larvae attach to fish,, cycle starts over

Anyway, i'm thinking once the scombs get some more size on them I may order a tat, or an armatus, or both, around the 6"mark,i figure marve they'll be less fragile at that size, like to have some rhafs too.

you're probably right about the parasite. getting a tat as a tank mate would probably be a better idea seeing as how different an armatus is in terms of their maximum size and aggression
