Armatus sudden death at 12"

Man, there are plenty that are over 12" on here. I am not for sure what happened and will never know. It may have just been genetics.

That maybe just it, he probably had a tumor in his head, who knows...
again, sorry for the loss...
 
He had no marks, flakes missing, or any signs of the Pleco ever bothering him. He is in my living room and I constantly watched him. He would bully the Pleco around everytime it would move. He could have ate the Pleco if it was off the glass long enough for him to grab and tried a few times.
 
then it's most likely he panicked, smashed into the tankwall and died. pretty much same thing happened to raider:(

yea...ive seen fish do that with no real sign of injury on the face.

^^I have not fed him catfish for a few months honestly. He had only had it once or twice and they were the fillets not a whole fish. No disecting for me LOL....I would not know what to look for.
Channa.....I do not think it is sudden death syndrome either but it is just a thought since everything else is perfect.

at least yours was in the tank my oscar jumped out of the smalles hole on the back corner of my tank flopped about 5 feet from the tank while i was out on my front porch i came inside and he looked dead till i seen his gill moved i picked him up and put him back in the tank. he made it and is doing good. needless to say i found somthing to cover the holes
 
Very strange. In my limited experience armatus are VERY tough fish. Ive only had three, including this one, and Ive never experience them to be jumpy either.

May just have to chalk this up as just being part of the hobby. Thats why Im out now!

BTW, it most likely got prazi pro a few times in my tanks with all the rays Ive had move in and out.
