What would you suggest for a life-tank for an armatus. I'm on the verge of picking up a 265g

from what I hear, yes. This tank's foot print is 8x30"

do they get along with rays?

They do very good with Rays. Most bottom dwellers are fine with them

I think you can get away with that width for a while, but maybe not for life.
On the other hand... If you were to grow him as a Juvi in that tank... I think he would know his surroundings and could decrease your chances of his safety (till he reaches close to 30" in leingth). JMO

I don't know I think Chris'/unknown's was a real prick.. even to rays.. lol

265 for life NO WAY.

I'de say the width needs to be OVER double the size of the Armatus. Everyone will tell you different but hey if you want to risk having your $700 fish smash into something and die cause it was a lil clostrophobic then hey...go for it.

Mine was getting clostrophobic in a 180 at only a foot in length....which was LESS than 10 months of having it......

Word to the wise......learn from my mistake..... BE prepared. If you are even thinking of getting an Armatus IF you can even get one..... Once you get it you are on a time clock to upgrade tanks. A 265 is fine to start but in order to keep that thing happy you'll have LESS than a year before you need to upgrade again.

Full grown.... I know I won't keep my next one in anything under 6 foot wide as a permenent home.

deff the wider the better. mine started getting chlostraphobic in an 18 inch wide when he hit about 12 inches. i can see this happening in a 30 inch wide when he gets about 22 inches.

they grow fast too, mine is about 20 inches and hes not even 2 yrs old yet...

im also THINKING of selling my 8" armatus..... ill keep everyone posted...

dang! A 6ft tank?!? How bout a 8x6 for life? There is one for sale as well
