and not a good one...:(
woke up in the morning to find that the armatus had shed a tooth, and had a weird lump in his belly right above the pectoral fins.
plus he had some sort of bump in front of the anal fin as well.
constipated?i dont know.
i hadnt fed him last night, only in the afternoon.
maybe he swallowed his tooth by accident and it cased lacerations in his gut?maybe.
maybe he swallowed a stone?but most of the stones are too big to swallow anyway.
he was still swimming normally, just not eating and didnt beg me for feeders like he normally would, fine.
i went for a bath and checked my emails.
and hour later,i find hes on the other side of the divider with scratches on his back, cloudy eyes, and bad lookin fins.
not good...
dont know what could have happened.
he was eating fine up til this happened.
and i swear hes grown at least an inch since i got him.
fingers crossed...hope he gets through this!

oh man... keep water conditions tip top etc etc as per usual with payara.

missing tooth is ok as Im sure ur aware. the lump not too concerned, may be just the way what ever he ate is passing.

if the armatus was alone on it's side of the divider and made that jump then there's speculation for concern as to what stressed it to do that.

fang used to swallow his teeth all the time too so i wouldnt worry about that.

like mad ness said watch the water is the best thing. i would do large waterchanges and add salt.

did u treat him for parasites yet?

GL man. i would go about testing your water asap. you never know when something freaky's going on(remember the C.perch:() think he might have caught something from the lfs feeders?

So sorry dude, I'd go with the massive water changes aswell. GL...

final update...hes dead.:cry::cry::cry:
looks like i was too late.
i did add salt, did a 70% water change before bed.
dead this morning...
it had to be the armatus huh.
it only seemed stressed once those lumps appeared, which im guessing was already too late...:(
thanks guys.

parasites might have been it...but the cichla are fine.
they ate the ones that swam through the divider, plus they were quarantined.
