Any smaller fish is pretty much a goner with a solo 22 inch armatus. lol

haha like I said, the asain fishkeepers most likely kept a large group of armatus and then eventually were down to a small 3. Armatus are very risky fish to cohab but no body seems to like that fact. Sure there are the lucky ones whose fish is left unscathed from the worst.

here's a little link to answer your question: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?276316-updates-on-recently-aquired-Armatus

the life story of a guy trying to cohab a large group of armatus and ATFs. not saying your idea is going to end up this way but it's definitely possible.

First off my response was not to u so i dont see why u felt the need to respond to me. 1 you are wrong most did not start wth large groups they start with large tanks with good balance, top middle and bottom dwelling fish. 2 all fish were kept extremly well feed so they didnt get hungry and try to eat tankmates, its a big difference between hunger and aggression. 3 armatus are no more risky to cohab than other large extremly predator fish. My ? to you aside from what u heard or read. How many armartus, have u raised to adults, how many times have you tried to mix armys in the same tank, and how many times have u had army tigerfish combos. Over my 25 years of fish keeping i have had many predator combos some worked some didnt. What i wont do is keep trying to tell people what they cant do like im the expert who did 100 army cohab test and they all failed.

What about a huge Royal Blue Eyed Plecostomus. I have always loved those guys. Do they eat hikari pellets and would be suitable tank mates?

I see the legend on here with 3 Armatus. So I do have hope to have a few of them in my tank. But from what I have seen of my Armatus he is a bold beast that does not tolerate any living creature. Hopefully he will change with more room to swim next week.

If my memory serves me correctly, these plecos need mostly a vegetarian diet along with driftwood to chew on. Pseudacanthicus species tend to fair a bit better with a more carnivorous diet.

Hit the nail right on the head with this one. I agree 110%.

Aimara are the same way. They're expensive so you don't see cohabs. Then people start running off at the mouth about how they're "A solo fish at best" despite never even having one.

There are no cut and dry answers with these fish, only experiences. What one person experiences might not be the same thing the next guy trying the same thing experiences. Trying to predict the outcome ruins sharing these experiences. We should stick more to sharing our own experiences, cause if you're sharing others success/failures there's so many variables that are unknown that it's bound to end up a misunderstanding.

Sorry if I nudge you the wrong way but i'm just putting putting out my opinion. i did say anything was possible didn't I? You can do what ever you what. There's no way I can tell you want to do. just trying to tell you some experiences me and a friend had in the past with some armatus cohab.... Just trying to tell that predetor cohab might not result in what you want it to be. Do whatever you want. I actually am going to trade in my large armatus for a smaller one so i could actually safely attempt to cohab with them with maybe some ATFs. I was just putting it out there that large solo kept armatus didn't usually like to be kept with new tankmates. If you haven't read some my earlier threads I asked if I could keep my solo 9 inch armatus with some 7 inch ATFs. one factor was that the ATFs were smaller and another factor was that the armatus already took the tank space for himself. I follow their advice and didn't do that cohab.

I want to add a fish that will clean up the mess from a big strike of Tilapia stuffed with Hikari pellets.

Anybody ever add a giant Rapheal Cat or does anybody have any suggestions? I am scared at night he decides to eat him and it chokes him.

I was thinking a few Chaca Chaca cats since they don't move around much.

I was thinking of tank mates?

My dream is to have 3 Armatus cruising?

I though I can add a half dozen giant Leaf Fish?

Any suggestions I would love to hear.

Don't want my Armatus to choke, don't want him to be bothered at night, don't want any fish messing with him for any reason.

Half dozen Chaca Chaca cats.

Try a gulper cat. All those guys want to do is eat eat eat lol and too fat to get eaten by the army. I would worry about one bite to a leaf, but they do blend really well so who knows. Def worth a try!
