on an icecube.....
for the last few days my normaly active silver(about 6")isent moveing around his tank at all(its 36"LX12"WX18"H)all he dos is stay on one side , and hes not at the top of but afew inches under, hes mostly just floating there in one spot, he still eats smelt fine but he only grugingly eats food sticks( used to go right for them?)the water should be fine sence i did a 50% change the otherday(he was like this before the WC and after)the PH is 7.8-8 and temp is about 84, the only otherfish is a 7" fire eel

maybe hes getting larger, and realizes how small his tank is? my friend tried raising an aro in his 50 gallon tank, as soon as it started putton on size, it stopped swimming around and got hella sketchy... it never changed even after a tank upgrade, he ended up gettin rid of it.

Ethnics is right. Also your ph is waaay to high for aro's.

yah his PH is fine, i think it might jus be showing sketchyness from his tanksize possibly. it might be the personality of the aro its self not liking the size of its tank. or it could be spooked by many other things. or, he could jus be relaxin out. if he continues to do this for weeks then you should be concerned. i jus kno some silvers are stubborn. mines been doin this face swim into the side of my tank for almost 2 weeks now LOL

Well, sounds like he's doing a normal change into adolescence. If params are good and he's eating, that's good. With the temp being 84, that could cause him to go lower in the tank. I keep my temp about 81.3-83. Anything over 82.7 my Aro goes to the bottom where it's cooler.

I have hard core well water, year round glacial runoff. I've tried everything, my ph is 8.8 or off the charts. Ketapang/Almond leaves lower the ph a maximum of .4 of one point, but my fish have done fine in the high ph, it's a fact of life where I live.

Keep an eye on him, he's still young and small, let us know if there's changes. Is your temp. constant or could it have popped up a bit and caught him off guard?

This is a tough one.....A bigger tank really would'nt hurt though.:D

sorry should have explained that i was going to put him in my 75g but i have a 12"+ RTCXTSN(it hasent eaten any other fish but still)then he will go into a 125 then 180 and finaly a pond, another thing is he is doing everything slowly swimming, eating(like fallowing the food to the bottom of tank then eating it)but yes i think it might be tank size hes proabaly more like 7 1/2"-8", but then when i turned out the tank light and looked at him he was swimming around like normal but still afew inches down from the surface:confused: one thing i forgot about is i put my 125 afew inches next to his tank and moved the tanks that were by his so mabie hes stressed out from the change? and the end hes spending his time in is the farthest from the 125(plus it would explain his swimming around now that lights are off sence he cant see the 125g...)

try putting up black paper on the sides of his tank, and the back of his tank. might calm him if he can't see whats over there? and aro's dont ALWAYS sit at the exact surface. mines swims in the middle, the bottom, the top, up and down, all around. there fish. the spend time near the top, but not always at the exact top.

well i have a black background on the back and sides now(but it keeps falling off one side next to the 125)iam getting a littel concered sence he only ate once today(i usualy feed him aro sticks, smelt, kill many times throughout the day)but he just looked at it and watched it sink to the bottom, iam not sure what i can do sence the water is fine(il do another 50% change today though just to be sure)and i cant upgrade his tank size sence iam sure if the RTCXTSN dosent eat him the 11" clarius will at least kill him when hes sleeping:irked:
