Very much south..
well, I am not a big fan of giving mamalian and bird protein to fish, BUT, Koji is a REFERENCE for me in Arodom, therefore, as stated, I did give it a try with chicken.

Went out, bought me some chicken breast, had it cut in cubes. At home I washed the chicken to take away that gluey stuff that clings to raw chicken ( 30 seconds in running water more than enough ) and fed.

Silvers- Went berserk over it.

Blacks ( usually the more difficult to get to new food, and more now because I have them separated in an all black tank )- went crazy over it.

Jars- Do I need to explain?

Asians- Cried havoc and went at it with a fury.

Even my FRT ate a piece as well as some knifes ( could not get there in time, the knives ).

Pacman Cat - swallowed a piece like there is no tomorrow.

I have never seen such a strong reaction to a "new food "stuff as I have seen today.

Only my Channa Pleuro did not show interest...

Now Koji, this must have some impact on the water, no? How often do you feed chicken/pork? Once a week? Would this be enough?

Usually as long the fish swallow the meat whole without chewing I doubt there will be any impact on the water.

I will usually cut into small pieces and flush with tap water till the water run clear.

I feed them alternate day with meat or sometime almost everyday.

raw chicken?! one word salmonella

it would depend where he bought the chicken.. if from a reputable store, this would pose no threat.. if somewhere else, salmonella would be the least of his worries..:ROFL::ROFL:

aro eating white meat? hmm... i've tried plenty of different meaty foods, benefit of feeding chicken?

benefit over feeding shrimp/salmon/catfish/trout/smelt/squid and any other fish i can find that can fit in there mouths?

I started by saying that I am not a believer in non aquatic protein for fish.

But wanted to give it a try and tell you people the results. They were remarkable.

Just an additional diet added into our daily feeding. I'm a non believer in feeding fish with non aquatic feed but after thinking back about how huge silvers jump and catch birds, eating lizards and even some have fed theirs with mice. So feeding chicken meat is not that special after all.;)

I feed my Jardini the occasional chicken piece and he loves it. If you do feed chicken, dont use well cooked meat or it explodes into tiny pieces.
