Just an additional diet added into our daily feeding. I'm a non believer in feeding fish with non aquatic feed but after thinking back about how huge silvers jump and catch birds, eating lizards and even some have fed theirs with mice. So feeding chicken meat is not that special after all.;)
This makes sense,
but the long term effects remain to be seen...

nice to see this kind of discussion.
I'll try some chicken tomorrow with my silver.

I would just go with, probably one meal a week of animal meat, cause I'm sure that aros aren't jumping and catching birds every single day or finding the occasional mouse that is swimming through the river. Hmm . . . what's the difference in growth rate when one fish is given non-fish meat/protein while the other lacks it from their diet? Anyone document?

yah im curious on the long term affets as well. but i guess if u water change hardcore regularly then water condition from feeding this type of food isn't an issue.

i know my rtc would prolly love some, i feed him hotdog very often. shrimp mostly but inbetween trips to seafood market, i think imma try this

Glad it worked out Mig. My only concern is your FRT. I would suggest you NOT give it a taste for meat or protein, otherwise your fish will be next for it to taste...

it would depend where he bought the chicken.. if from a reputable store, this would pose no threat.. if somewhere else, salmonella would be the least of his worries..:ROFL::ROFL:

salmonella will always be there no matter where its raised or bought its a bacteria that is always present in chicken, even in raw chicken eggs..the only way to remove it is by cooking the meat or eggs, you cant wash it off..but hey these are just my 2 cents, i'm not saying its bad, but personally i would try something else

Most chicken sold are fed with growth hormones. I wouldn't be surprise if your fish grows faster than usual. Not sure about long term effect either.

I am not sure if chicken bought in a licensed and scrutinized ( as they all are by the law, in here ) butcherhouse carries salmonella. We're not talking backyard chickens..but will try to find out..I do not believe it though...

Rapid growth is what you see in Koji's..is it because of the hormones?

I will feed it once a week...and watch...
