i feed mine freeze dried krill and feeders. he is 9in and i was wondering what else i could feed him and if i would have to starve hime to get him to eat it or not. and is there any differance between Krill and Ocean plankton by hikari???

Crickets
earthworms
centipedes
bullfrogs
peeled market prawn
Krill is small shrimp or marine crustaceans and plankton are more like algae or plants with tons of other microscopic stuff.

Be careful of feeders, unless they are home raised, your fish could get a disease or parasite from them.
I have an assload of some kind of gecko lizards on my front porch. Would it be safe to toss one of them in the tank every once in a while, or are wild lizards disease bags?
I know they swim, so they'll splash around on the surface for a while. Should make for some entertaining feeding.

Try not to unless you are really sure that the lizards have no pesticides on them or any other chemicals that can kill your fish.

I wouldnt suggest it because often geckos eat other bugs and insects that may or may not have pesticides in them, which then get passed on to your fishy. Though you could catch a few and then feed them some gut loaded crickets for a few days so that theyre full of yummy nutrients.
I don't know where they would pick up any pesticides or other chemicals. 
They pretty much live in my porch light and eat the moths and beetles that are drawn by the light.
I remember about ten years ago one of my friends in the nieghborhood would catch lizards to feed to some of his smaller corn snakes. Those never got sick from eating lizards. Are arowanas as tolerant as snakes, or are they more sensitive?

So, with gut loading, can I keep a healthy aro on just live foods?
I just don't like the idea of using prepped foods. Feeding a predator fish prepared foods like carnivore sticks and freeze dried foods defeats the purpose of keeping a predator fish. I bought this fish so I can watch it hunt and eat live foods. If I wanted a fish that I feed flakes and pellets, then I'd just get a goldfish and be done with it.
I have a 20gal I can use to quaratine feeder goldfish and gut-load them with spirolina flakes. And I think I can get my hands on some meal worms, nightcrawlers, and crickets, if aros eat that stuff. What would I use to gut load the bugs? Fruits and vegetables?
