i just moved mine 4.5 hours this past week and used a similar method. instead of a cooler i used a rubbermade container. but cooler will probably be better. hope all goes well. goodluck!
 
It's a 14" (or close) Silver that I imported from Hong Kong last Oct. Beautiful fish, de on one side, amazing finnage.

I was juggling between the rubbermaid tote or the cooler. I just figured if I use a cooler, I don't need to go out and line it foam and heat packs and so forth. The temp will hold steady for that amount of time, and I can put a lot of extra o2 to create an air bladder so the sloshing is minimized.
 
Update, we have found that shipping is outrageous. Is there anyone in WA state (driving distance) that would possibly be interested in my Aro?
For free, just the promise of loving him!
 
Is shipping costlier than for Ethnics to buy a like sized aro?

Shipping total is around $200, we expected about 50 bucks each. I put up ads at the lfs, we'll see I guess. No one was prepared to blow $200!
 
speaking of your aro I got offered it by village pets lol. Hey mei I am looking around for a 240 and hopefully my dad will let me get one. If i do get it or even order it i will let you know. id be glad to help out.
