Hi,

This afternoon, I gently tapped :screwy: the side of the tank with a Wii controller; and it totally freaked my silver Aro out. She jumped around, went through the drift wood knot and landed on the other side of the tank all bruised and scratched from the wood. In the process, he lost about 8 - 10 scales and has visible scrathes on his face and above the eye. The silver scales are spotted on the inside of the drift knot; am sure he must be totally frantic.

I have shut off the filter and added a dose of Melafix; will continue for the next three days. Also, plan an on giving him Hikri Krill treats to comfort him a little.

He is swimming fine now and seems to be more settled in.

Anything different or recommendations on what I should do for a swift recovery?

sorry, but is it a guy or a girl?? it changed sexes halfway through...

and my tiger oscar got bit by my friends wolf fish (when the oscars were his) and i just increased the temp of the tank and he healed in like 10 days.

fai.. first things first NEVER tap the aquarium.. thats the universal law of any fish keeper.. i'm sure you are aware of lateral lines on fish.. next thing.. what sort of filter do you have? if it is an external filter and has carbon remove it and start running the filter.. please remove all the deco from the aro's tank.. most aro owners prefer not to keep any deco cos it might potentially injure the aro in situations like this.. do you have an aerator? add one in and bump up the temp a lil.. more than enough and please again dont ever tap mate :)

Why have you shut off the filter?

I would turn your filter on, and throw the Melafix out. You can add some Stress Coat to help it heal faster.

Hi,

He is He .. that was a type. :)

I do have a bubble wall to keep aeration on. The filter is external and has carbon which I will be removing once I reach home.

The tap on the aquarium was purely accidental guys and the drift in the tank is for the Blood Parrot and sucker.

The current temperature is set at 80 - 82; should I bump it even more?

Important steps for rapid recovery. Turn ON the filter. Remove the carbon and add ur dose of Melifix. add stress coat and feed the Arowana high protein foods for a couple of days. salt for anti bacterial resons would be great.

Hope it helps.

it will take a long time for the scale to grow back i lost 1 about a month ago on my red and it looks the smae as it did a month ago just be sure to add a bit of salt to ur wc so no open wounds get infected.
