hi, my friend and i were talking the other day and we got on the topic of silver aro's, he has a 180 gallon, and i have a 70 gallon, he has his 180 stocked with big cichlids, and big catfish, and i only have a 7inch, clown knife in my 70, he wants a silver aro, so my question is, how long could i house a baby silver aro, 4inchs? in my 70? and what would i feed him, i think they look cool, but i never really read that much into them, so any and all help would be greatly appreciated

u get a 4inch silver and palce it in a 70 longest u can leave it in there is 8 months, then transfer to a much larger tank

the tank is 48 by 18 by 18, and yes, he would then be put into either my friends 180 or possible his pond that his dad is building

A silver aro would be comfortable in that tank up until it is about 16". Average growth rate for silver aros is 1 to 1.5" per month. So starting with a 4 incher, you'll be looking at moving to a larger tank in 8 to 12 months.

yeah and im going to college in the summer so that would be close to the time id have to get rid of him, what would the silver aro's diet? just regular chiclid gold pellets or what?

no..

Not Pellets.. arowana will never eat those..

Best Choices are

Dried Blood Worms, Bine Shrimp, krill, Crickets, beef heart, feeder fish (not recommend as a regular diet) only as a treat

You can try arowana sticks.. but my 7" arow doesn't like it...

Yes a good quality pellet is the best thing you can feed the arowana. Once you get the aro to eat pellets then expand the diet to a wide variety of foods.
