how about some kind of shrimp?

Once the aro is larger frozen market shrimp is a great food, you will need to remove the tail spike though. I also stuff the shrimp with pellets or food sticks.

why stuff them, for the added nutrients and such? what about when he is a baby? waht would be the ideal food

Hard for large aros (especially with drop eyes) to eat small floating pellets. This would also be a good way for zerojquan85 to feed pellets to his aro.

Freeze dryed blood worms, very soft freeze dryed shrimp/krill and quality flake food are best foods for baby aros. At about 6" they can begin eating pellets.

sounds good, thanks for all the help, what could be some bottow dwelling fish i could keep with him for that time?

yup...u cn get a silver bt den must prepare a new tank after few mnths! my expectation would be 6mnths - 1yr must get a bigger tank!

feed it aro pellets. if it dont eat it starve it few days. all aros ive owned learn to eat pellet within days and since its only 4'' just break the pellet in half. taught all my 2'' aros to eat half broken pellets

alright thanks, what would be some quality pellets i could feed the silver aro?
NLS, Omega One, Hikari Gold or Bio-Gold or Aro Sticks. I don't have any experience with other brands, like Xtreme, though. I'd go with NLS if you can get it.
