How long can a Silver Aro get in a 55 gallon tank before you must move him to a bigger tank?

I'm growing a Silver out now in a 55 untill he gets big enough for my 225. But when will he stop growing in the 55?

if he can turn easily that should be alright, but as time goes he would definetly outgrow that 55, I have a friend killed his silver coz he kept it in 30,he never planned of transfering it to a larger tank:screwy:

he will stop growing...and you gonna stun the fish, my guess is you can grow him up to a feet in the tank and you should move him.

I'm growing my silver in my 18" wide 65gallon till hes a foot, so I'm thinking around at least 6" of turn room.

Thanks much. I think I'll let him hit 10-12" till I move him. Hes about 8" now.

Btw, That calvus in your avatar is beautiful.

Ill take that mean one;2330326; said:
dude you should keep a silver in a tank hes gonna spend his entire life in cuz its tough to net them when there bout a foot long

Lol, What do you think is better, Putting a 2" aro with a 20" aro and see if he lives a happy fulfilling life? Or grow him out till his big enough to "chill with the big boys" and transport him to the other tank via letting him swim into a huge fish bag without him getting a single scrach?

I like option B :)

Ive transported many 5-12" aros without any problems at all, no scraches, scrapes, or lacerations.

I remember the time I bought my aro, the guys at the LFS are so damn stupid, they use a net to catch the 15" silver and some of the scales feel off maybe 2 or 3 of them so I told them Im not paying the original price coz some of the scales feel off. I was buying the 15" silver for 75 dollars and after the incedent with the scales I bought it a 66 dollars. :naughty:
