Aro in alkaline water?

I've got a large tank with some mild tempered african cichlids (mostly frontosa) and i have always been in love with arowanas and was wondering if i could perhaps keep one with my africans. PH is around 7.8 and most of the fish in the tank arent very aggressive.

How wide is the tank? and when you say large how big? How big are the Frontosa?

Tank is a 180g, the 6 frontosa are between 6" and 8"

keep it ard pH 7.2 and its v suitable for aros.

Yeap, i agreed with u.....just look at all the fishes in the comm..........

At where I live, the water is very hard, with pH level around 8.5 or so. However, I've been keeping Silver, Jardini, and a Black with no problem. Just keep the pH consistent and the fish will be fine.

I agree, aros can be kept in hard water. Just be certain there is no ammonia, as ammonia becomes more toxic in alkaline water!

Keep em clean and warm, they will be happy!
