Hikari food sticks,FD shrimp or krill, Bio gold, Baby convicts, 1 very unlucky albino ruby shark, and I keep finding marks on my 7 inch silver sharks who have'nt grown as fast as him. Also some days I'll throw in some flake food for fun.

Cool thanks guys. I got the smaller of the two to eat some shrimp today. He seemed to love it. the larger is still being picky but tomorrow I bet anything he eats. He came to the food but didn't take any yet.

How small should I cut up the talapia? About 2"x2" sq. or larger. Keep in mind they are 24"+ and 30"+

my jar and silver goes CRAZY LIKE LITERALLY GOES LIKE HIGH and ATTACKS OTHER TANKMATES when they eat EARTHWORMS!My uncles asians got crazy after eating earthworms

I find aros can be very moody. Mines eat just about anything - enthusiam varies from day to day. Sometimes they go nits for hikari floating sticks, sometimes for crickets and sometimes they even go all teh way down to the bottom to pick up pieces of shrimp. Small frogs are taken too. My silver are definitely too lazy to chase darting feeders (catfish excluded). Make sure they are fed varied diet (convinience is one thing). I usually have at least three types of food on hand... any left overs are devoured by outside tank ^^

I thought pellets provide the most for the fish, which is why owners w/ Aro's that dont take pellets stuff shrimp or gutload crickets? I thought feeders were the least beneficial food too?

My silver eats Hikari gold, Arowana sticks, hai feng pellets, koi pellets, and market shrimp... He LOVES the shrimps!! Oh.. and i guess he likes Scales too, he trys to attack one of my bala sharks and when the scales fall of... my silver tries to scoop the scales in his mouth. :irked:

Pellets are supposed to be enough. But i don't think anyone feeds pellet only diet to fish ... variation should always be considered (in case you one day run out of pellets).

Depends what kind of feeders - people say gold fish is not good (too fat?), but i am sure fish flesh gotta be good for them (after all they eat that in the wild). The risk with feeders is disease.

IMO feeders do provide stimulation for the pet ... and the owner? Feeder fish is also the most clean type of food (cos when uneaten it does not foul the water). I say again, weigh that against risk of feeders. If you have a supplier of reliable feeders, it is not harmful

Good to know. I think I'll stay off live but vary the diet a bit more, As of now FD shrimp, sticks, and BW, should be alright I think.

I feed my aro fresh anchovies, well he really like it, do you think its good for my aro, well hes not showing any sign of sickness or illness.

mine love mealworms+centipede+prawns :D sometimes small koi fish will do it fine
