Over my time in the hobby it would be a couple years of my salary. Lake everyone else, I don’t really want to know. If I do my next build in the garage that will set me back 10K+, but I’m still debating on that one. My monthly expenses run a couple hundred dollars counting utilities. I’ve moved on to running tanks for a local museum, so I’m now spending other people’s money. I know the 250 I just set up had 2K in startup and I’m now designing the drip/auto change system that will be several hundred dollars counting the new plumbing that will be required. It’s a lot of new work, but allows me to try new things off my budget.
