TY = TONG YAN

EBXB = brand name, more general term is BBXB = BLUE BASE CROSSBACK

Tong Yan is also abrand name from OTF farm. Its a hybrid also known as a crossback splendor. You get it by mixing a crossback golden with a grade 1 red.

Yes, Tong yan is a general term to describe XB and SR cross... but Im certain its not a brand name by OTF or any farm. Whats a "crossback Splendour"? If you mean Red Splendour it is a brand name by QH for their TY

Not exactly what they say at all:
The Evolution of OTF new hybrid

The Evolution of OTF new hybrid(mix parentage) are varieties of such is Cross Back Splendor (crossBreed between Cross Back/Super Red) and Premium RTG(crossBreed between Cross Back/RTG), Supreme RTG(crossBreed between Cross Back/Premium RTG), R.T.G Splendour(RTG crossBreed between Cross Back Splendor)

Commonly known as Cross Back Splendour (Tong Yan). Cross Back Splendour is a hybrid between Cross Back Golden & Grade 1 Red. Hence, Its characteristics is similar to the Cross Back Golden & Grade 1 Red. So its is further classified into the Cross Back Golden version or Grade 1 Red version.

The whole gill cover is a glittering reddish/gold color. Both exhibit sparkling bright colorization up to the sixth scale level when in adulthood. The core of the scales also exhibit Blue, Purple, Gold, Green and Silver color shine. The prior’s dorsal fin and upper half of its tail fin is dark green, while the latter has its tail fully red.

The point is its a hybrid and the term Tong Yan was coined by one farm or another.

Yes it was already agreed that it is a term to describe a SR x XB hybrid, that was not in question. The farm puts "Tong yan" in brackets because it is a general term used to describe the hybrid... if they just put "crossback splendour" no one would know what that was and assume its just a xback.

What i was saying was that "Tong yan" is not a brand name created by someone (like you said) to market their fish, it is a general term used to describe a XB X SR. Sure it was coined by someone, but its not used to sell that farms SR x XB exclusively as everyone uses TY to describe theirs too

Do you know who coined the term? or what Tong yan means? I don't so please share.

Here's the response I got when I asked the same question on arofanatics:

彤 means a DEEP RED colour. 艳 means brilliance, beautiful, captivating

彤艳 is a branding, a name first used by SABF in its cross breed between a red and a crossback.

It has got nothing to do with 杨同彦 or 杨天水 who is a writer championing democracy in China. Some call him a revolutionary.

彤艳 and 同彦 only sound the same in Romanised Translation. It is not read with the same tone in Chinese and neither is it written the same way.

Hope this clears your question.
