Hi guys,

I am totally new in this forum. I have an issue at hand. I have a 4ft tank that consist of various fishes.

Yabbies
Arowana (2weeeks old in my tank)
Alligator Gar
Catfish
Cichlids
Plecos

Problem is I did not add any aquarium salt since day 1 which is approx 3 months ago. All the fishes were doing well. This morning my arowana almost died as it laid on its side. Added aquarium salt and it seems to be recovering.

Hence, is it recommended for me to infusee aquarium salt into my current set up or do I seperate the arowana?

Thanks and much appreciated!

none of those fish need aquarium salt.

have you tested the water?

ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite levels. buy a liquid test kit. the strips are junk.

is the tank heated?

My tank temperature stays around 28 to 29 degree celsius.
I add a dash of anti-ammonia, nitrates and nitrites once every two days.

might still want to test it. a healthy aquarium doesnt need any of that stuff added to it.

also tell us what cichlids you have.

my money is on the silver being bullied. but i still wouldnt rule water quality out.
