Arowana and alligator gar

Please do search it on google about tank cycle. Also buy a liquid test kit to test water parameter. Are you changing aquarium water ? Weekly ? What percentage ? Based on fish size and food put in water needs to be changed

oh man that gar is way too big for that 55 lol. i bet the gar is trying to eat the aro.

I am using a canister so water change occurs once every three weeks. Initially is once per week

no amount of filtration or water changes will help keep those fish healthy for much longer. i was under the assumption that they were all still very little but that gar is pretty big. and ive seen silver aros grow 2" per month.

The agar actually took out 2 15 cm silver arowanas the previous week

that right there should answer your question about why the current aro was not doing so well today.

but seriously... you need a bigger tank, man.

The current arowana is kept within a seperator.

The gar is just 3 months old...

So the recommended course of action now is to get the water tested and correct the water quality?

at this point i doubt its water quality problem. but im sure your nitrates are quite high. the problem is : if the gar has killed two aros already, then you add an aro that is smaller than the two he already killed.... the course of action is to stop feeding him arowanas because thats basically what youre doing.
