arowana and clown loaches

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have 6 CLs with a 18 inch RTG, never had a problem. As Bderick said give them plenty of hiding places.
IMO CLs are way to fast for an arow to catch.

6-8" is fine...

Untill you have to pay for them:nilly:

Clown loaches are slow growers, so expect to pay more $$$ for the bigger ones.

I think there is nothing too fast for an arowana to catch.

about co existing, used to have this 14" HB who live with 4 barb for about 5 months, then one day he decide to eat em all up.

another was my super red, lived with a 4" pleco for couple of months and one fine day decided he likes pleco as food. ate the pleco up....when I replace another pleco ate that too, I think he must hv eaten at least 10 pleco.

appreciate the advice
im looking into a larger tank as we speak but i wanted to see if i could get the CL's in there with the aro
im gonna try a pack of 6 at my LFS theres a few around 4-6 inches ill see what he can do on the price : )
thanks again

Well i currently have 12CLs of varying sizes along with a red severum and 2 little albino plecos and 3 little polyps to keep my 7" Banjar comnpany.

He tolerates the clowns at most times but sometimes when they rise together to the top to try and steal his food he gets all mad and chases them away. but otherwise he does not bother them.

getting a 6x2x2 ready and i guess when i shift him to that the clowns will stay in the old tank. aint rich enough to afford clowns as feeders for my aro :)

My Super Red Aro is about 2.5 years old and measured 53cm a month ago
She has lived since she arrived with my 12 clown loaches a polkadot and a zebra loach.
My clowns are between about 10cm with the biggest around 15cm, my polkadot and zebra loaches are only about 8cm
I have never had a problem even when the clowns do their little dance up and down the glass
She has never been fed feeders though, i think that it does make a difference

My son has a 4 year old RTG who literally terrorizes to death (but does not eat them) any fish you try adding to the tank except the 8 clowns she has always lived with, the datnoids and the rays.

I feel uneasy when I see clowns with aros. They have those spikes under their eyes. If the aro takes them head on and decides that they aren't too tasty it can't back out.
