I know this is horably miss spelled. But, for those of you who know the fish will know what I'm talking about. I love those fish and have an opertunity to get an 9" one that I'm thinking of puting with my 3 aros. I used to have one 20 years ago and I remember there reputation of being "nippy". I also remember that I didn't think that they were that "nippy". What do you think? Should I get it or not?

Thanks odd ball, I think I will go for it.

Distichodus sexfasciatus pics but they get pretty big. The one I'm getting is 10"

get it....love that fish, very under rated...

you think $75.00 is good for a 8" - 10" fish?

If the fish blows your hair back, then the money is well spent. Especially for a not-so-common fish. Usually these fish are only available in the 2-4" range for $30-$50 bucks. How much do you think you would have spent feeding one of them from 2" to 10"?

Been lookin after this big fella for 8 months now and he's been great. He does get a little aggressive, but it's mainly just posturing, rather than real damage to my other fish. He's the biggest thing in the tank, but still likes to hide in a cave most of the day. Think he's a bit shy!
The only fish he touches are my larger Clown Loaches - only seems to have a go at fish near his own size (leaves the smaller ones alone), usually when someone invades his space.
You can see little semicircle marks from his "beak" (they do have odd mouths!) on the skin of my Clowns!
Likes to eat your plants, but loves catfish pellets. This one has grown about 2" since we got him.
As Oddball said, should be fine with your aro, as he never bothers anything near the top of the tank.

I have kept those with my asian aros and they work well together. A lot less tolerant with their own species thought. Is it common in the states? Not such a common fish here & most that are for sale are small. Very rare to see specimens over 12".
