Arowana and filtration

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Over kill could be the cost of the electricity/maintainance weighed against the added benefit. I wouldn't be running those three filters on my duce and a quarter, which is too small for three silver arowanas for life. An fx5 and an ac110 done, weekly water changes, substrate vacuuming, filter maintainance and responsible feeding. Added filtration at a certain point reaches a point of diminishing returns, doesn't replace the need for regular water changes and requires added unnecessary maintance.

true but i wasnt going into details or specifics. i still do weekly 50-70% wc even with 4 fx5s and live plants lol
guess im just obsessed with over filtering lol happy fish = happy me lol

You can overkill with too much flow :D Never with too much filter mass.
I always like to go MONSTER :)

I absolutely love the way the current in the water is right now. I hardly have any dead spots and the fish seem really happy. My water is crystal and everybody loves it. My electricity bill only has gone up $40 dollars and it's totally worth it. I do a 15% water change every 3 days and vaccum. I really need a some nice uv leds for my plants. What is the best way to go about plant light lighting? I could really use a 101 on planted aquarium. Thought I would give the a try but so far not so good.

give the planted section and a visit and read up on the stickies there.
you'll find some good reading there.

Some of the my pics. Idk, tell me what you think. I know the stupid ship is an obstruction but my kids love it once the fish are larger I want to do a open concept with a short planted bottom and get somthing close to 500gal.
