Arowana and kissing gourami

How did you acclimate your arowana, what was your pH and what was the pH of the tank it was previously in? Another possiblity in a tank that small, is the aro could have injured it's brain by slamming into side of tank or hitting the top cover while jumping.

i think its more the kissing gouramis stressing the heck out of it even though i removed the kissing gourami but i think it was too late cause out of the 3 days that i owned the arowana the first 2 days everyone was peaceful then the third day the kissing gouramis were kissing (fighitng) each other and the kissers keep kissing the underbelly of the arowana and all over. I also have a betta fish in there but i will remove it when the arowana get to big but thats not the case now the betta fish was actually like a referee when the 2 kissers starts kissing each other the betta fish comes it and chases them away from each other.

You had all these fish in a 10 gallon tank? How many times did you move the arowana. Fish don't become stressed to death by kissing gouramis.

it was only temporary that i have all the fish in the tank plus the lfs that i got the arowana from had like 15 arowanas in a 20 gallon tank i only moved the arowana once from the lfs to the tank. I also remembered that the top half of his body was like blackish and the bottom half was still silver then when he died his 2 fins became black as well

Well to bad for the loss of the aro, I guess this is just a lesson learned.

i was searching on the forum and i saw the stomach ailness or something when something sharp cuts the internal intestines or something do you think a Hikiri food sticks for arowana could of done it? cause the symptoms were the same his head was facing the floor and his tail was facing the sky. But i also noticed the top half of his body is blackish and the bottom half is still silver then when he died his fins were black. Is your arowana dead?:(

yeah - Houdini is gone to the pond in the beyond ...

Houdini's head was up and the tail was down ... almost like he had an air bubble in his head ...

His normal breakfast was Hakari cichlid pellets and it wasn't a new package - it's almost empty.

I even thought it may have had something to do with the dog food recall until I recalled that I had this from before that recall.

That it for me .... not getting another one!

.... unless I find a Red legally that I can afford .... I might do that.

Houdini was looking so sharp with ALL that red on him.

Did you by chance feed yours freeze dried shrimp?

I have some I refuse to feed my guys (except the puffers) because it hurts to pinch some out of the can and I was afraid it would hurt them.

sorry for your lost buddy :(. Today i got an 7-9 inch siler arowana for $22 it was supposed to be $33 but the lfs felt sorry for my lost and plus i gave him my 2 kissing gourami and he lowered it to $22 and now i know better to keep kissing gouramis with the silver arowana hes all by himself now :)

sry for double post. so your arowanas head was facing the sky? cause my arowanas head was facing the floor and his head was facing the sky. And i only fed him Hakiri Arowana sticks. nothing else
