I dont know a lot about arowanas. i am looking for a tank mate to go with my redtail catfish (RTC). Do they grow fast enough to be put with a RTC? Any certain arowana better than the others to be with a RTC? I like the look of the red arowana. Could they be put with a RTC? How hard are they to find and how much do they cost?

Work together, Yes. Depending the size differences. The arowana shouldn't be able to fit in the catfish mouth to keep him safe. Roughly on who grows faster, the RTC will outgrow the arowana. Think about getting a arowana maybe x2 the RTC size.
Hope this helps.

Any arowana better than another to go with the RTC? What about red arowanas? And how much am i looking to pay for one?

Sorry pal, ALL ASIAN AROWANAS ARE ILLEGAL! Here in the US. I'd personally will go with some black arowanas, but I don't know if you will spend the $$ for one. Otherwise some silvers are great for entertainment or a lone Jardini.

Like i said i dont know too much about arowanas yet. So how much are black arowanas?

Blacks arowana can range anywhere from $100+ Depending on their size. Silvers are roughly around $20 for a juvi, and are usually cheaper when they are bigger. Jardini are around $50+ for a juvi and a little more for bigger ones. If you want an arowana, I recomand reading the Arowana Forum. There are lots of stickies there to help you out.

GL on the fish! Hope you get an arowana too! They are really cool fish and one of the top fish that I think has the coolest personalities. I really enjoy having my 17"-18" Jardini giving me company even though he is a handful and a PAIN is the *** to feed. :irked:

It depends on the RTC's size.....The aro would need to be considerably biger than the RTC.
