arowanas have a slim side / vertical profile while the RTC is very wide. Result, same sized arowana will be eaten sooner than later. I agree with the suggestion above that the aro should be 2x the RTC to start with. Don't give feeders to the RTC. that may help too. personally, i'd wait till my silver's atleast 16-18 inches and then introduce a 4-6 inch RTC.
dominance of the arowana in the tank may also be an important factor.
prettymuch what everyone has said. RTC's are pigs and there is always a chance that an aro the same length as an RTC will get eaten or just killed. Also, if they are picked on when small, they will exact revenge when the time comes. I personally won't get an RTC until I have a large enough tank for its adult size and have full-grown fish in the tank already and then grow one out, but that's basically because I can't afford a huge tank right now and RTC grow super fast.
