hey guys my aro is swimming crazy and bouncing off the walls sometimes is there a reason for this or it is "normal"?? everytime i gt close to the tank he goes crazy for a few minutes is he just startled? please let me know thanks!!

Some what normal but not good, you have a jardini, right? Try to move slowely and not make sudden movements also avoid wearing red orange and yellow around the tank.

thank you. when i watch him from far away he is perfectly fine swims back and forth nonstop. every time i go reach up for food he goes crazy. when i drop food in the tank he goes crazy i dont know how to feed him so he doesnt get startled. i place the food elsewhere so i dont have to make sudden movements. i also looked up other people that had had this and they recommend me add a tankmate so there is somewhat consistent movement in the tank so he gets use to it?

give him time to get used to his tank and you and to grow a lil

lower the water.

i will try that next. he's in a 55g how much water should be in the tank? 50% 75% filled? i raised the water because the hob was splashing too hard onto the water i wanted it to be "calmer" for him since he was new to this tank. how long do i have to keep the water low for?

You might want to try keeping the lights off for a few days to help him settle in. Once he recognizes you as a source of food, he'll calm down.

I didn't know that. Is there something about red, orange and yellow that makes jardinis go crazy? Like a bull that sees a red cape?
I think it is an individual thing. I've kept many aros, none has freaked because I wore something red or held something red/yellow/orange in front of tank.
lower the water.
I don't think thats a good idea. IME higher tank/water level makes a fish less skittish. Lowering water would help lessen the damage from jumping up and hitting it's head but this isn't your case. Your Jar seems to be swimming rapidly back and forth. Just give it some time to adapt. Try dropping the food and back away. Let it take the food.
