YES!! everytime i open the lid to drop food in he goes NUTSSS!! i try to be as quiet as possible. sometime i throw the food in the filter outlet to avoid opening the lid
Does It slam when it closes? Does he freak when u open it or close it? Or both? Try leaving it open half the day and close it half the day as he gets used to it make the time less and less from opening and closing it. It worked with my Id sharks

Yea they freak out easily. Sometimes i wonder if they should even be kept in aquaria, esp when all they do is freak and hurt themselves. Id rather see one in a river with miles of wide open space.
I got a jardini also 3" in length. My aro do the same on the first 4 days. What I do it I seat in front of my tank after I feed it for 15-20 min. After I do that for 3 days my aro start calming down when I feeding my aro. But my aro still jumpy when wife and folks pass by. But rather than that he is fine. No physical damage just the faded lower mouth the he always rub on the glass. Hope this help. Good luck.
