arowana can see color?

Yes many have reported this for the colors red, orange and yellow.

Though it could also just be the sight of you wrapped in a towel

Never had any issues with fish of color or even the color red inside the tank. With mine it has always been with items outside the tank.

lol my arowana hates blue. i tried putting up a blue wallpaper and it jumped up at the tank cover and lost a scale.

I would imagine it was more likely the actions of you putting up the wall paper. Then the color of the wall paper.
