Hey guys,

I have had my 150g tank for about 2 weeks now. 1 asian arowana, 2 stingrays, 1 catfish, 2 tiger dats. My arowana is about 10inch long. When I first purchased him 2 weeks ago he was swimming at the top and now he is always cruising around the bottom. Is this normal? Another thing is that I never see him eat either, is it possible he is hunting at night?

Mind you, I live in Vietnam and almost everyone feeds arowanas live food here so its really difficult to get him to eat pellets especially at 10inches. I feed them feeder fish, worms, crickets and shrimp.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dai

Is your tank cycled? Did you buy the set up, put new water in and toss the fish in?

looks like maybe we have the same problem except for seeing the aro swam on the top before bought it

i noticed when i turned on the light during nigh time, it is going aggressive, before i turn on the light, it just swam very calm on the top, and after i turned on the light, it like to swam at the bottom..looks like it trying to catch a fish, but also not...so right now i am really worried whether it eating or not...now i just counted how many feeder fishes inside there, and later i will recount it back to check is the fishes is got eaten or not

maybe u can have a look on the lighting environment too

your aro sounds like its stress,so try to keep lights off and check your water params

when u have the lights off at night do u have any light in the room. Aros dont like it pitch black they get jumpy. I had a black light for the night for my silver aro. My friend didnt and his banged the lid and swam on the bottom for a few days

what does aro getting jumpy have to do with aro laying at the bottom?
