Is your tank cycled? Did you buy the set up, put new water in and toss the fish in?

your aro sounds like its stress,so try to keep lights off and check your water params

yeah my lights haven't been an issue, regardless if its on or off he is always swimming at the bottom. back and fourth back and fourth. its not like he is weak and sittin in a corner, he is still swimming just fine.

You should not have any nitrites at all. Any hint or trace or nitrite points to your tank not being cycled. You need to cycle your tank asap before you drag your rays into the trouble too.

Can you please suggest on how i do this to an already setup tank. i did have it cycled for about a week before i put in the fish. any suggestions would help. my arowana seems to be weaker by the day.

Try seachem prime to temporarily make the nitrite and ammonia non toxic to the fish, and add beneficial bacteria products to speed up cycling. I have used seachem stability many times and it works well. Water change every 20-30% every few days.

My Silver Aro rarely EVER leaves the very tip of the water without sticking his body out of the surface, This is not a good case at all on you're part, Check water Params and keep the lights off.
