Also depends where you live, states won't be able to get Asian aros., if you live where they're legal, get maybe a rtg?

First you need to recognize shine levels. There's 6 row of scale on a Asian aro. Xback has shine to the 6th row of scales, gold would be on it back( that where it get the name xback or crossback)

RTG usually have 4th level shine a good quality highback RTG has shine to the fifth row scales.

thanks .i'm in canada and there's a local dealer that has a bunch of different colours for sale.

I havent actually been in the store. But its called live exotic imports based in toronto. Joey Diy king just got one from there

IF i were to get an arowana and upgrade tank in future. How long am i looking at. I currently have a 75 gal. I dont mind upgrading but it just means getting my arowana will take longer.

75g is 18" wide from back to front. You can grow a 3" aro to 12" in a year asian grow quick. Golds are thick body fish and not so flexible like your silver or black aro they need space when they turn.

Ideal tank size is 72" long by 24" wide from back to front like 180g,220g tanks.
