Arowana damage. Help?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hey.. what is the size of the tank? what are the tank mates? did you add any new filter or accessory in the tank or new tank mates? are the tank lights on when you switch off the room light?

barbels will def grow back.. aros are very strong fish.. they heal real quick.. your aro is prob stressed at the moment.. jus give it sometime..cheers.

Should heal, might be the pic but your water looks off..what are the params? To help your fish heal and prevent infection they should be 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and nitrates as low as you can keep them. Keep on keeping your lid tightly coverd.

There's a new tankmate. It's a tiger shovelnose catfish. The water is perfect, just the lights, wall behind the tank, and crappy phone camera make it look yellow'ish.

Mmm if it were me I would try to trim off the dmged barbel so it does not heal the way it currently is the scale will grow back slowly. Do some water changes and bring up the temp a bit add sum salt ( aquarium salt) as per the size of ur tank so infection does not settle in. Nuttin major bro. Don't sweat it . Try to turn the room light off first the tank light so he don't get spooked.

I'd disagree with the trimming bit.. please DON'T do it.. how big is the aro and the tsn? jus give it some time. if you do want to switch of the tank light.. i'd suggest you leave a small night lamp glowing in the room.

Could be another fish but ID's have a habit of "jumping" when theres something wrong with your water...temperature, O2 levels, even nitrate levels...did u check those?

The arowana is 8" and the tank is only a 55 gallon. It is a grow out tank and almost everything in there will be moved to a 200 here soon and then to a 1300 when they need to be upgraded again

my buddies irredesent shark freaks out all the time... does yours? silvers can be very jumpy and with another fish freaking out as well it will make it worse
