my one and half year old jardinia was beaten up today by another fish.. both sides from the gills half way back on the body are torn up pretty bad. most of the scales are torn off and he is really struggling to swim. he still has a little fight left in him but im not sure how much longer he can hold out...

is there anything i can do? please help!!!

melafix and pimafix salt and heat, quarantine tank if you have one otherwise remove the aggressor.. frequent waterchanges and hope.

He's able to right himself and is still fighting if I try and help him. But still he's laying on the bottom looking helpless. I feel terrible.

I hope you have a QT.
Melafix, Epsom salt, bump up heat.

exactly

WHO is beating on a jar
besides a jar

A single 4 inch convict. They have been together for a couple months but today apparently he just snapped. One male convict vs. a 10 inch jardinia.... I'm really bummed. If he makes it threw the night it will be a miracle.

all the best!!

Convict !?... convict is the worst lol.. they are very aggressive when they hit certain age.. i use to have him at only 2"........ when they grow to 4"... they turn mean and some even grew beard ( black bottom from lip to below lol ) .. well non of my fish died , and they wont bother my silver arrowana last time. ( big tank so i guess ).

remove the convict.. i rather you keep the arrowana.
Or get those blue color cichlid.. isntead ( light blue color) their really passive.. i use to have 4 of them , 1 died in old tank coz of convict, 1 got eaten by red tail cat..
left 1 champion blue and 1 normal blue lol..

as for fixing them.. hmm would rather you take away the convict. then QT him.

questions.. how big is your tank? and exactly how many fishes are inside that mian tank?
