I've read about what u feed ur aro can brighten up their color. well my silver aro has a greenish tint to him on the top part of his body and the tips of his fins r like a lil orange. i was feeding him frozen bloodworms, then my friend told me to get him into pellets. Tried that he wouldnt eat so i droped a small feeder fish in for other tankmates and he took after it. So now he is hooked on them. Greenish color looks like its coming more n more. Any suggestions?

Do not feed feeders to your arowana, starve him and get him on healthy foods like prawn and hikari food sticks. If your arowana has an improper diet or lives in unhealthy conditions it can develope dropeye.

I agree, but I prefer cichlid gold, it's cheaper and easier to find (as far as I know, none of the lfs near me have the food sticks).

You'll have many people tell you that what you feed your silver can enhance it's color. IMO once your aro get mature it will look like every other silver of that size, very little to no color difference between all of them.

You do need to feed your silver a nutritious diet though

i feed my silver aro beef heart, smelts squids, crawler, roaches, and some time feeder for treat.

Never feed feeders to you're aro, It gives them drop eye and makes them look pretty bad and their is a great risk for disease and lack of nutriton, I would feed it a diet of pellets, Krill, Bloodworms, and as a treat maybe some silver sides.

thats the truth.
Also, DE (drop eye) is not something that can be controlled through diet. It just seems to happen to most silver arowanas with time. I know people who have had there silvers on the highest quality foods from 3" and they still develop it at some point. right now, there is no proven cause of DE.

Yes it does, If you give you're aro floating food it will prevent drop eye since they stay at the top of the water at all times, But when they eat feeders they are looking down constantly when trying to eat a feeder which gives them drop eye.

I didnt have him on feeders. i had him on bloodworms. but he grabed a feeder that i put in for the characin that was in the tank. but i planned on getting the charachin out of the tank so i stoped with the feeders. the aro is on a pretty good, bloodworm, shrimp diet right now. Ive been trying real hard with the pellets. tried "starving" him for a few days but he started to get skinny so i put sum bloodworms in. Hopefully soon he will be on pellets. I know sum1 who feeds his crickets. i dunno if thats good or bad but im not going to be doing that.
