Arowana differences

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say asian because:

1. I can't get one here, not legaly anyways
2. Much better looking at larger sizes
3. Great colors, especially reds and golds

Well I have never seen a full grown asian, and on pictures personally I prefer silver. I guess I would need to see one to pick...

go w/ an asian aro. they r amazing. search for asain aro and then search for silver aro. then decide which one is better. if u dont want an asian, then try to get a black. they look like silvers but they have better colors.

Heya, thanks all for your replies.

FlamingWood: Thanks!

Dimfer: You said you had close to 20 aros, do you have a store/buisness? Cause I saw you were in Canada, and if you ship fish in Canada you would be the first that I know of...never could find any buisness that would ship fishes in Canada. I'm located near Montreal, Quebec...I have a hard time getting aro's and rays close by, only once a while and you get what they have :)

Thanks!

I am just a hobbyist. I bought my first one from a fellow hobbyist. Here in Alberta, Asian arowanas are available from Big Al's and some other lfs. Try petstores in the Chinatown area because many Orientals are really into it. The new batch (10 pcs), I imported directly from a breeder in Singapore. You will save a lot by importing, but they have minimum orders of US$ 10,000.00.

how much did that cost... where abouts in canada u from??? like ship and the fish??? thanks

Here in Edmonton retail pricing (Cdn $) for asian aros are as follows:

Red Tail Golden - 1,200.00 - 1,800.00
Super/Chilli Red - 1,800.00 - 2,900.00
Golden Crossback - 3,000.00 - 6,000.00

I've seen an arowana with a tag price of Cdn $ 32,000.00 in Calgary

a little bit cheaper buying from fellow hobbyist

Lol...ok I set my mind, i'm getting a silver. Not just the price tho, personally I think silvers look better than the asian-type fins. And I like large fish, so i prefer silver than black.

Well thanks all for your help!
