arowana dorsal fin damage

Yer I ended up cutting the fin, I Sedated him in a medi tank, then took him out of medi tank and cut the fungus infection of his fin and then put him back in the main tank and treated tank with api for a week, doing 40% water changes every 4 days, it took 2 weeks till his fin was fully repaired, Now he is a 14 inch beast in just 4 months,,,
Have you tried adding aquarium salt? Works wonders for my peacocks fins & aero! They love it too. Fins are a tricky thing & can go this & fade not only from high nitrates but also other factors. Have you tested your raw tap water for any heavy metals?
He was damaged when I brought him from shop, tank water he was in had high nitrate, he is fine now and has been for 3 months, good water heals all,,,lol
