Well hopeful it recovers, maybe yours is a result of the ammonia in your tank and it is just showing up now, IDK.
With mine when I adopted it it had been raised in a 90 48x18" tank until it was 21". the poor aro didn't even swim, just sat stationary
The tank also had a 12" electric cat and a huge pleco in it. With only a UG filter for filtration. I just concluded that the deformation in the aro was from either too small a tank or bad water quality. Then having it in a 180g with pristine water it recovered, and had no sign of the deformity after 3 months.
