yes but for health make sure your tank is at least 36" wide for a full grown silver try an indoor pond aros are awesome to view from the top i almost think that this is the best way to view them plus a pond is way cheeper than a clear front aquarium

you could, but it's not the best idea. What if by the time comes that he's already outgrown your tank, you don't have the cash/space for a 7 footer?

get the big tank 1st then get the aro
if you are for real about getting a tank that size whats the problem in setting it up first as aros grow at 1-2inch per month so you would need to set the 7x3 up in less than a year anyway
so back to my 1st rule of fishkeeping get the biggest tank you can then think about stocking it
i agree but you just cant talk some people into this they want to get the fish first so what can you do bigger tank the better though

All I (and others) are saying is that sometimes things don't go according to plan. So it would be better to say stock the 84 gallon with fish that don't get huge, bichirs, some medium sized characins and catfish, then when you have the big tank - buy a 6 inch silver. They grow fast.
