My small silver arowana just lost it's egg sac. It was eating some granules but wouldn't eat any live guppies. He would eat them if I killed them and they floated at the top. is there anything wrong with him?

feed him bloodworms and as it grows bigger feed it meal/super worms, earth worm, krills, pellets, market prawns and etc, no feeder fish ;)

Stop feeding feeders. No more feeders EVER again. Right now, since its just got off its egg sac, it might go for a few days without eating. Try feeding the floating stuff like dried plankton or freeze dried bloodworms. Remember, never feed feeders again.

consider it a blessing that he won't eat life foods. maybe he isn't strong enough to hunt and kill live fish. feed him frozen food like bloodworms, brine shrimp or small pieces of market shrimp. add some pellets into the mix. try to stay away from freeze-dried and hard shelled foods as they might damage your fish's delicate insides...

agree, but freeze dried bloodworms are not very hard and dont have a shell.

Freeze dryed blood worms are the best food for your arowana. You can also mix in a good quality flake food. In ablout a month at 3 " you can start feeding freeze dryed krill/shrimp, just make sure they are soft some brands are harder then others. You may have sucess with some frozen foods, I don't like them because they sink and some ends up uneaten.

You can also feed baby/pinhead crickets, your aro will become addicted to them so limit to once or twice a week. At 4" start adding broken up pellets during feedings, by 5" your aros mouth will be strong enough for pellets.
