Arowana Help?!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Aros freak for many strange and unknown reasons. My smaller silver will freak whenever I wear a red shirt, and ofcourse when he freaks then the larger on freaks. When this happens I just have to let them chill for a day. Being your aro is injured it may take a little more time.

You can try adding blackwater extract, it does seem to help calm them down a little.

Please let us know how he is doing and wish you and the boy the best..and hope he heals up fast..

Thank you Liz, i am really just crush about this, I feel so bad. You know This is my Pride and Joy-the reason i got into the hobby and i was so determine to let him grow healthy and big/spoiling him like crazy ( LOL). The tanks have gotten bigger and bigger just for him....Shoot I fought for 3 weeks to convince the GF (who likes him alot now as well) to not to kill me for taking out the loan that will go towards the 300g, and I been secreatly ploting if to come up with enough extra after the move to build a 500g.

Im sorry emotionaly blabing on and on Ill will post updates:thanks for the thoughts and advice as well as suport

So far so good he seems to be calm now-Face still so bad, I know it will be very long for it to heal up I did notice that with some of the cuts they are deep. Dose anyone know if the will fill it over time? The lip have a chunk that looks as if it may break of-if it dose will that grow back or will he be disfigured now?

I will post a pic if I can

I have haft the tank covered right now, ever so offten he peek out of the covered end but has not full swam out into view...kinda hiding behind the towels....

I'm sure it'll be fine. Big aros are a lot tougher than you would think. Their behavior can be strange at times. My guess is it got spooked for whatever reason. When I removed a large stump from my silver's tank, he pouted for 2 days refusing to eat. Then, it was like nothing ever happened.

LOL Mine poutes for stupid things too...Like I said he is moody at times.

Just wanted to update you guys, so far so good no Freaking out since but hasnt eatn' either-not even his shrimp(scared, never turned down shrimp)...Im worried about his mouth-nice chuck off the top lip. And the gashes and cuts are not as red and so sign of infection so thats a good thing

Also i have removed all towels but a corner of the tank, and he has swing out and about a little more-remaining mainly behind the towel still so i will leave it for another day or so....

poor guy

Poor guy is right.. we hope he heals up fast.. just because he is not eating yet do not worry... they are sensitive and emotional and can go for a long time before they feel like eating.. mine went for almost 5 weeks..and once he started eating again he was no worse for it.. so be patient with the patient.. he will be okay..

I had mine freak out when I opened a window shutter. Maybe a shadow from an outside tree limb crossed over the tank. It could be anything. Was he ever in total darkness from a power outage or anything? They will freak in the dark. If you have kids, they will torment the fish by moving their hands quickly by the tank. Hope you figure it out and aro eats again.

Thanks Liz...i will try to be, I am going to keep as section covered. so if he wants to hide he can. Just not like them so i cant help but to worrie.

Crustman, thats a good thought there is a window with in view of the tank and like i said when I got home I could tell right away he was uncomfurtable-then later freaked. So that has bothered me cause no one was really home?!? maybe it was a shadow or passing cars creating moving shadows. It was nice that night and the blinds were up and window open.

He is never in the dark completely I have moon lights and every now and then i dim or turn off sections of the lighting, but never completely off.

I have found in the past he dont like to be in the dark and its worst if he is and you turn on a room light.

LMAO....Let me find out he is afread of the dark....LOL

Thanks guys
