Hey yall

I have a 5" silver arowana and a 4" TSN in a 180gallon tank. My question is how long can I keep them before they outgrow the tank and I have to relocate them? What is my best solution?

Thanks
Larry

Awesome, looks REALLY good too :)

That looks more like a black aro. If you got that for the price of a silver you lucked out really good.

Looks nothing like a black, its a silver. I say you can keep the silver in the 180 assuming the tank is 6' x 2', for 1.5 years to 2 years. Basicly until the silver gets up to 24". When the silver passes the 24" I suggest ungrading. As for the TSN I have no experienced with them, but heard they get really big really fast. So maybe 1 year for the TSN?

*edit*
TSN gets 2-3" a month, so you have 5 months tops with the TSN.

silver. what do u feed it? depends. 180 gal. it will be agressive at the 20" mark, so beware of its tankmates. Looks dazzling!

dont worry about it

Thanks for the advice guys. He is a beautiful arowana. Best specimen I could find locally. paid 55$ for it. Sucks that I will have to give him away one day, but this is the sacrifice I have to make since I wanted an arowana. ringoyam why do you say dont worry?

currently I am feeding krill and pellets. pellets for the TSN. he doesnt eat much but the arowana always has a full belly. I figure everytime an aro outgrows the tank I will just replace him for a smaller one. SHould I try to stunt his growth or is that a no no. How would I go about that anyway?

That's just cruel :shakehead

And I'd give back the RTC. He'll need 1000 gallons eventually (which I'm pretty sure you can't supply), and the longer you wait to give him back the harder it will be to get rid of him.
