even at 18'' it would probably go after german blue rams, loaches and anything larger than a 2-3'' tetra correct?

Hard to say for sure, really only way to know for sure is to try. I used to feed one of my silvers convict cichlids that I raised. At about 13-14" the arowana lost interest in hunting the 1" convicts
