Arowana pricing

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In Georgia, I have purchased two Silver Arowana. A 6" that was $49.99usd with a bunch of free stuff thrown in. It got destroyed by my African Tiger Pike (Hepsetus Odoe?) so I got a 10" from another store for $60usd and sent that pike packing. I traded the pike with my LFS for some feeders and stuff...about 5 bucks worth. Came back later and he was in a tank all alone and on sale for 70 bucks, down from 90. I was happy to get rid of him, but I got ripped. Oh well I bough him for $25 year or so ago.

HIGH! :WHOA:

80 sounds a little high, in hawaii 80 will get you 10-12 inches. Personally i think that silvers are the lowest grade of arowanas, and i think they are a lot more fragile than jordini's or asian arowanas.

Lowest grade? What do you mean....the breeding is no good? They aren't as healthy? Or do you say that just because they are the least expensive and easiest to find.

I think silvers are pretty tough, Ive heard storys of several jumpers that survived the fall:)

YA my 240g is 6' tall and a couple of the aros have jumped out and when this happened I just grabbed them and put them back in and they were chill like nothing happened. Keep in mind these are like 1.5'-2' silver aros.

wow I feel lucky FL is so cheap.. we can get 5-6inch Aro's for about $25-$30

lowest grade, easiest to find, most fragile, and cheapest you can buy them right after the yolk sack is absorbed for about $7. blacks go for about $20-35 3 in jardini's go for about $65. In hawaii you can't get asians so lowest grade means that it is not as spectacular, too me. don't get me wrong they still are beautiful fish.

silvers tend to be more water sensitive than others, at least in my experiences with them

silvers tend to have more cases of drop eye compared to black and jardini. jardini are more agressive than the other 2. silvers look great if you find the right one with a hint of red on its tail...
