So I purchased what I believed to be a Silver Arowana at my LFS the other day, a baby of course, and he is only about 3.5-4 inches long, when at the store he looked to be a silver. This being, silver in color, black and yellow near the gills and black feelers with a hint of yellow. Upon closer inspection over the past few days, taking in the many variants of light possible, I am now questioning whether or not he is truly a silver.

His color has gotten darker as he has become more accustomed to my tank, more of a golden color and his sides are becoming darker. He is also no longer hiding in the corner like he did at the LFS and is becoming very active. Any input on this as a possible mis-label? Or is this normal once a fish is becoming less stressed

Its def not an asian Aro you dont just buy those on accident. I would trust your LFS. only other possible mis-label could be a Jardini Aro but i doubt it

Okay, I just know that the LFS I got it from isn't my normal one...I was planning on buying hujeta gar from my normal one, but they were closed for Easter. I know that the store I purchased it from has a less than trustworthy reputation around town. Also, his fins are black with yellow on the fronts, or pones that hold them out.

Well a black/blue arowana at the size you got would be black so it wouldn't be mistaken as a silver arowana. A pic would really help in determining what type you purchased.

I have tried to get a picture of the little bugger several times, but he doesnt stop moving :nilly: or my angels(which will soon be finding a new home...or his belly) get in the way because they are attention whores :screwy:

I will attempt to get one tomorrow, it is definitely sleep time for me

No problem, I spend all my time in class, watching my fish, or on this site. So I am going to be engulfing myself in Arowana knowledge
